Description

RIKLAN is a Department of Transport approved Heavy Rigid Assessor offering a nationally accredited pathway for you to complete your licence requirements. This involves the completion of a nationally endorsed unit of competency: TLIC3004 - Drive Heavy Rigid Vehicle.

Our partnership with the Department of Transport means at the completion of your training we are also authorised to conduct the practical drivers assessment (PDA) or licence test In-House which is conducted by an approved RIKLAN Assessor.

Purpose

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to drive a heavy rigid vehicle safely in compliance with relevant state/territory road and traffic authority licence requirements and regulations including road rules for heavy rigid vehicles.

It includes maintaining systematic and efficient control of all vehicle functions, monitoring traffic and road conditions, managing vehicle condition and performance, and effectively managing hazardous situations.

Duration

Options 1 (suitable for beginners):
-2 days (up to 13 hours of training & includes the first attempt PDA fee) $1795 + Department of Transport Fee for the PDA
-8am-4pm each day
-Theory Assessment - A theory assessment is to be completed prior to completing your 2-day course/Practical Driving Assessment (PDA)
-Practical Driving Assessment is $198 inc GST + Department of Transport Fee ($126.10)
-Second Attempt Driving Assessment is $198 inc GST + Department of Transport Fee ($104.40)

Option 2:
-$198 inc GST per hour, per lesson (minimum of 1 lesson required, no maximum amount of lessons required)
-Theory Assessment - A theory assessment is to be completed prior to completing your Practical Driving Assessment (PDA)
-Practical Driving Assessment is $198 inc GST + Department of Transport Fee ($126.10)
-Second Attempt Driving Assessment is $198 inc GST + Department of Transport Fee ($104.40)

Entry Requirements

Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises.

Drivers License as per below:
- A Car (C class) licence for at least 2 years, or
- A Light Rigid (LR class) heavy vehicle licence for at least 1 year, or
- A Medium Rigid (MR class) heavy vehicle licence for at least 1 year.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:
- Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
- Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

Assessment Requirements

The course will be based on theoretical sessions and practical driving sessions.

Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Delivery Mode

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced instructor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation and Australian Standards.

Notes

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment for this unit.
