Description

This course specifies the outcomes required to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more) for licensing purposes, and involves the operation of a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device or any combination of these used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated to perform work. The 11 metre boom length shall be taken to mean the greater of the following:
(a) The vertical distance from the floor of the platform to the surface supporting the elevating work platform with the platform at its maximum height; or
(b) The nominal reach, measured horizontally from the centre point of rotation to the outer edge of the platform in its most extended position.

Entry Requirements

Must be over 18 years of age & Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises.

WORKSAFE considers that to assist in ensuring safety at the workplace and to comply with Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 requirements, applicants for a High Risk Work Licence must have sufficient knowledge of the English language to communicate orally with other workers and where appropriate, be able to ready and understand the following:
• Safety signs at workplaces.
• Operator manuals in the case of plant such as, for example, fork-lift trucks, work platforms and cranes
• Load charts and/or compliance plates in the case of plant as exampled above.
• Assembly instructions and drawings associated with rigging and scaffolding work.
• Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) .

In undertaking the written component of the Assessment Instrument WorkSafe does not permit, under any circumstances, an interpreter to be used and requires that applicants attempt the written examination in their own hand. Being able to write answers to the written questions is an essential means of demonstrating to the assessor that they can read the English language. However, when marking written assessments assessors can seek verbal clarification/enhancement of questions not fully answered.

WorkSafe also wishes to confirm that all written assessments for HRWLs must be 'closed book' in that applicants must not have access to any information.

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, written assessment, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises

Delivery Mode

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.

Materials or Equipment Required

Students must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and steel cap boots.

Notes

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment for this unit.

Expired licence's can be renewed within 12 months from the date of expiry by contacting WorkSafe on 1300 307 877. If you turn up on the day of the course and it’s found that you hold an expired licence that it able to be renewed, a full cancellation fee of the course price will be charged.

Course Fee

If a you have an interstate licence and are required to transfer to a WA licence, you will be required to pay a new licence fee of $86.00 and a transfer fee of $86.00.
