Description

This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies and provide advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other First Aiders and use specialised equipment in the provision of advanced resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Units included HLTAID009, HLTAID010, HLTAID011, HLTAID014, HLTAID015

Purpose

This course applies to personnel who may be required to provide, co-ordinate and manage a first aid response and provide advanced resuscitation techniques in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.

Duration

The course will be conducted over 3 days, plus Pre-Course Reading and Exercises.

Entry Requirements

It is a requirement of this course that for the practical demonstration of CPR, you must be able to kneel comfortably on the floor.

Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:
- Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
- Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

Qualification Requirements

Prior knowledge/competence in Basic CPR and First Aid at the discretion of the Trainer/Administration Booking staff.

Assessment Requirements

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.

While the training for the enrolled units is delivered concurrently, each Unit of Competency is assessed as a discrete unit.

Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Delivery Mode

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.

Materials or Equipment Required

Participants must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and enclosed footwear.

Notes

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment for this unit.
