Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to conduct telescopic materials handler operations. This course applies to those working in site-based roles.

Purpose

On completion of the course, participants will be able to:

- Confirm details of telehandler operations by planning out work by locating workplace policies and work instructions including work method statements and safety data sheets.
- Inspect and prepare the work area including identifying and addressing potential risks/hazards.
- Perform pre-operational checks.
- Operate the telehandler to shift a load.
- Operate the telehandler to lift and carry a load using slings and lifting gear.
- Shut down the telehandler and perform post-operational checks.
- Complete housekeeping procedures.

Duration

The course will be conducted over 1 Day (8 Hours)

Entry Requirements

Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:
- Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
- Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

Assessment Requirements

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercisesw.

Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Delivery Mode

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.

Materials or Equipment Required

Participants must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and steel cap boots.

Notes

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking Nationally recognised training, you will need a USI in order to receive your Qualification or Statement of Attainment for this training program.
