Purpose
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to undertake rescues in confined spaces as a member of a single organisation or team involving multiple organisations. This includes a wide range of rescue and environmental situations which may incorporate industrial, rural, bush and extreme environmental conditions. Participants will also gain the competency to participate in rescue operations as a member of a rescue team along with the competency to provide emergency care pending the arrival of appropriately qualified personnel.
The unit applies to personnel required to detect and identify contaminants at a hazardous materials incident using specialist equipment to identify the materials, assess risks posed by the materials identified and to formulate a plan for their safe isolation and mitigation.
