Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to maintain safety at an incident scene by identifying hazards, assessing and controlling risks, implementing appropriate safety measures, and contributing to the ongoing safety of personnel and the public. This course has been designed to cover the additional core unit requirements when completing the Certificate III in Public Safety after previously attaining RII30719 Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue.

Course outcomes

Purpose

Participants will learn to monitor changing conditions, apply workplace health and safety requirements, communicate hazards and control measures, and maintain personal safety while operating in emergency response environments.

The unit applies to personnel who respond to incidents as part of an emergency response team and may be required to operate across a range of emergency situations, including fire, rescue, hazardous materials and other workplace incidents.

Duration

The course will be conducted over 1 day.

Entry Requirements

Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises.

Face must be clean shaven to ensure an adequate seal with the BA face mask.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:
- Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
- Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

Qualification Requirements

Assessment Requirements

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.

Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Delivery Mode

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.

Materials or Equipment Required

Students must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and steel cap boots.

Notes

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment for this unit.
