Confined Space Entry Cluster (1) Apply
Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge required for safe entry to confined spaces under a work permit and for maintaining safety while working in the confined space. It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.
Topics covered include:

- Plan and prepare for working in a confined spaces.
- Obtain entry permit and instructions.
- Interpret and applying safe work methods.
- Apply tagging and lock out procedures.
- Select PPE applicable to all tasks.
- Use atmospheric monitoring devices prior to entering the confined space and during confined space activity.
- Perform work in the confined space.
- Exit the confined space and remove tagging and lock out

Purpose

The purpose of this training course is to provide participants in operational roles to undertake work in confined spaces safely, efficiently and effectively within the workplace.

Duration

The course will be conducted over 1 Day.

Entry Requirements

Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:
- Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
- Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

Qualification Requirements

Pre-Requisite: MSMPER200 - Work in accordance with an issued permit which is delivered within this training program.

Assessment Requirements

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.

While the training for the enrolled units is delivered concurrently, each Unit of competency is assessed as a discrete unit.

Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Delivery Mode

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.

Materials or Equipment Required

Participants must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and steel cap boots.

Notes

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment for this unit.
