Description

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and
practical knowledge on how to effectively respond to and extinguish fires within the
surface and underground operations.Participants will gain the necessary skills and knowledge which will allow them to respond and suppress fire emergencies including how to determine extinguishing media and equipment, determine fire behaviour, how to conduct search and rescue etc.

Purpose

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and
practical knowledge on how to effectively respond to and extinguish fires within the
surface and underground operations. While the training for the two units are delivered concurrently, each Unit of Competency is assessed as a discrete unit. The pre-requisite unit is assessed sequentially

Duration

The course will be conducted over 3 days.

Entry Requirements

Pre-requisite PUAFIR207B Operate breathing apparatus open circuit (must be completed before a Statement of Attainment can be issued)
Pre-requisite HLTFA311A Apply First Aid (must be completed before a Statement of Attainment can be issued)
Pre-requisite PUAFIR203B Respond to urban fire (this will be attained during the course)

Qualification Requirements

Each successful participant will be issued a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for:
PUAFIR302B Suppress urban fire
PUAFIR203B Respond to urban fire

Assessment Requirements

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations, practical exercises and written assessments.

Materials or Equipment Required

Students must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and steel cap boots.
