Occupational First Aid Skill Set Apply
Description

This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to provide advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other First Aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance; use specialised equipment in the provision of advanced resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace.

On successful completion of this course you will be issued a Statement of Attainment in HLTSS00027 Occupational first aid skill set which consists of the following units of competency:

- HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid
- HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation
- HLTAID008 Manage first aid services and resources

Purpose

This course applies to personnel in nominated occupational first aid or management roles who are required to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of first aid in the workplace.

Who is this course recommended for?

• Workplace first aiders, or those responsible for first aid rooms and facilities; and
• Those who wish to complete a HLT31215 Certificate III in Basic Health Care or HLT41115 Certificate IV in Health Care.

Duration

The course will be conducted over 3 Days (3 x 8 hour periods) plus Pre-Course Reading and Exercises.

Entry Requirements

Prior knowledge/competency in basic first aid/CPR at the discretion of the Trainer/Administration Booking staff.

It is a requirement of this course that for the practical demonstration of CPR, you must be able to kneel comfortably on the floor.

Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:
- Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
- Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

Assessment Requirements

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.

While the training for the enrolled units is delivered concurrently, each Unit of Competency is assessed as a discrete unit.

Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Delivery Mode

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.

Materials or Equipment Required

Participants must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and enclosed footwear.

Notes

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking Nationally recognised training, you will need a USI in order to receive your Qualification or Statement of Attainment for this training program.
