Description

This course is aimed at participants who are required to carry out working at heights. The course covers identifying work requirements and instructions for undertaking tasks, selecting, wearing and caring for personal protective equipment, identifying required safety systems, accessing and installing equipment, performing working at heights and cleaning up the work area.

Purpose

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely use fall protection equipment when working from heights.

This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work at heights.

Duration

1 day (8 hours)

Entry Requirements

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:
- Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
- Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

Assessment Requirements

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This Statement is Nationally recognised and is issued by Rikilan Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994).

Delivery Mode

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services instructor with a strong knowledge of relevant Legislation and Australian Standards.

Materials or Equipment Required

Students must wear long pants and enclosed shoes.

Notes

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking Nationally recognised training, you will need a USI in order to receive your Qualification or Statement of Attainment for this unit of competency.
