| Description | This course is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills to allow them to respond to vehicle collisions as a member of an emergency response team, across a variety of industries. |

| Purpose | The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and technical skills to extricate entrapped casualty/s from vehicles travelling on the road such as cars, motorcycles, buses, trucks and semi-trailers while minimising the potential for further injury and preserving the integrity of evidence. This unit requires the responder to access entrapped casualty/s using a range of techniques and to operate specialist equipment to undertake the rescue. This is applicable to members of rescue teams and requires responders to access casualties using a range of techniques, and to operate specialist equipment to undertake the rescue. |

| Entry Requirements | Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises. Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are: |

| Qualification Requirements | Pre-requisite HLTAID011 Provide first aid. |

| Assessment Requirements | The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises. While the training for the enrolled units is delivered concurrently, each Unit of competency is assessed as a discrete unit. Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework. |

| Delivery Mode | Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice. |

| Materials or Equipment Required | Students must wear long sleeve shirt, long pants and steel cap boots. |

| Notes | If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment for this unit. |
