Work Safely at Heights Training

Working with heights is unavoidable in sectors such as construction, maintenance, and telecommunications. However, it is also one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities. Ensuring the safety of workers in such conditions is not just a legal obligation under Australian regulations but also a moral imperative.

Comprehensive training, proper equipment, work procedures and adherence to protocols are the cornerstones of height safety. Riklan’s height safety training programs provide the knowledge and skills to minimise risks and meet all relevant standards.

Understanding the Risks

The inherent dangers of working at heights stem from the potential for falls, slips, and structural failures. These risks can result in severe injuries or even fatalities, not only to the worker but also to those below. Contributing factors include:

  • Lack of proper training and awareness.
  • Insufficient safety equipment or improper use of equipment.
  • Poor risk assessments or failure to identify hazards.
  • Unclear or absent rescue procedures.

Recognising these dangers is the first step toward mitigating risks and fostering a culture of safety.

Regulatory Requirements

Australia’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations outline strict requirements for working at heights. These regulations aim to further work safety and prevent accidents by doing work safely at heights by mandating:

Comprehensive risk assessments before work.

The provision of appropriate safety equipment.

Adequate training for workers and supervisors.

Development of emergency rescue plans.

Non-compliance can lead to legal penalties and, more importantly, endanger the lives of workers. By partnering with Riklan, businesses can ensure they remain compliant with WHS regulations while fostering a safe and efficient work environment.

Essential Safety Measures

To create a safe work environment when operating at heights, it is crucial to implement key safety fall protection measures in the work area. These include:
