This unit covers the competency required to work as a member of a non-specialist team under supervision when responding to an aviation incident. It applies to personnel required to respond to an aircraft incident, primarily outside of major domestic and international airports, it is not intended for specialised aviation firefighters.

Render Hazardous Materials Incidents Safe
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the competency requirements associated with the identification, avoidance, review, and evaluation of workplace risks and hazards, maintenance of personal safety and the reporting to supervisors and team members. Participants will also receive competency requirements associated with the safe combat of incidents involving hazardous materials. “Hazardous Materials” is a generic term used to refer to an incident involving dangerous goods and hazardous substances.
Operate Pumps Cluster
This course involves the skills and knowledge required to operate portable and appliance-mounted fire fighting pumps safely and efficiently at an emergency situation and covers preparing pumps to deliver water, operating pumps and concluding pump operations. It also includes inspecting response equipment, testing response equipment and cleaning, maintaining and restowing equipment.
Advanced Fire Cluster
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and practical knowledge on how to effectively respond to and extinguish urban fires.
Operate Breathing Apparatus Open Circuit
This course is to provide participants with the competency requirements associated with the identification, avoidance, review, and evaluation of workplace risks and hazards, maintenance of personal safety and the reporting to supervisors and team members. This course will also provide participants with the competency requirements associated with the operation and maintenance of breathing apparatus equipment in an irrespirable atmosphere.
Non-Accredited Skills Maintenance Training
This is a skills maintenance session for Emergency Responders to ensure they stay up-to-date in core disciplines.
Low Voltage Rescue
This course provides participants with the training skills and knowledge to perform rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables, in the work place. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution and rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and the adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
Lead a Crew
The emergency response team leader faces many difficult situations and environments. Because of this they require specialised leadership skills that allow them to choose which style is appropriate and then utilise that style to finish the task.
Isolated Structure Fire Cluster
This course involves the skills and knowledge required to respond to an isolated structure fire or urban fire when working as a member of a team under direct supervision. It includes proceeding to a fire, preparing extinguishing media and or equipment for use, entering a structure, conducting search and rescues, combating fires, defensive external structural firefighting i.e. how to attack a fire from outside a structure and protect exposures.
Drive Vehicles Under Operational Conditions
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive vehicles safely, including the systematic, safe and efficient control of all vehicles functions and effective management of hazardous situations under operational conditions.
