Confined Space & Gas Testing Cluster

This course is suitable if you work, or are responsible for people who work, in confined spaces, this course is designed to provide you with the appropriate skills and knowledge to test the working atmosphere using electronic test apparatus and enter and work in confined spaces. Topics covered include:

– Plan and prepare for working in a confined spaces.
– Obtain entry permit and instructions.
– Recognise and assess conditions that require testing.
– Take readings and interpret data
– Interpret and applying safe work methods.
– Apply tagging and lock out procedures.
– Select PPE applicable to all tasks.
– Use atmospheric monitoring devices prior to entering the confined space and during confined space activity.
– Perform work in the confined space.
– Identify hazards and apply control measures.
– Exit the confined space and remove tagging and lock out
– Clean and maintain equipment.

Provide Advanced First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation Cluster

This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies and provide advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other First Aiders and use specialised equipment in the provision of advanced resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue

This qualification reflects the role of Emergency Response and Rescue team members who work on a mine site or a construction site and who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a wide variety of contexts, which involve some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.

Conduct Fire Team Operations Cluster – RII30719

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and practical knowledge to conduct fire team operations and prepare, maintain and test response equipment within the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

Drive Vehicles Under Operational Conditions

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive vehicles safely, including the systematic, safe and efficient control of all vehicles functions and effective management of hazardous situations under operational conditions.

Operate Breathing Apparatus Open Circuit

This course is to provide participants with the competency requirements associated with the identification, avoidance, review, and evaluation of workplace risks and hazards, maintenance of personal safety and the reporting to supervisors and team members. This course will also provide participants with the competency requirements associated with the operation and maintenance of breathing apparatus equipment in an irrespirable atmosphere.

Operate Pumps Cluster

This course involves the skills and knowledge required to operate portable and appliance-mounted fire fighting pumps safely and efficiently at an emergency situation and covers preparing pumps to deliver water, operating pumps and concluding pump operations. It also includes inspecting response equipment, testing response equipment and cleaning, maintaining and restowing equipment.

Render Hazardous Materials Incidents Safe

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the competency requirements associated with the identification, avoidance, review, and evaluation of workplace risks and hazards, maintenance of personal safety and the reporting to supervisors and team members. Participants will also receive competency requirements associated with the safe combat of incidents involving hazardous materials. “Hazardous Materials” is a generic term used to refer to an incident involving dangerous goods and hazardous substances.

Respond to Aviation Incidents (General)

This unit covers the competency required to work as a member of a non-specialist team under supervision when responding to an aviation incident. It applies to personnel required to respond to an aircraft incident, primarily outside of major domestic and international airports, it is not intended for specialised aviation firefighters.
