Emergency Services Skills Assessment

The Emergency Services Skills Assessment (ESSA) is a practical, assessment-only evaluation designed to benchmark emergency response capabilities against industry-defined standards. Endorsed by EMCoP (Emergency Management Community of Practice), ESSA ensures a consistent, portable, and industry-recognised measure of operational readiness for personnel operating in high-risk environments.

Operate Breathing Apparatus Open Circuit Refresher

This unit of competency covers the competency to inspect, maintain and test a range of equipment according to organisation’s procedures. This unit applies to workers who have either a primary role in the maintenance of equipment or are required to test and maintain equipment as part of an operational role.

Workplace Policies & Procedures

This course is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge to communicate in the workplace, work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures, conduct local risk control and maintain and monitor site quality standards within the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. These units are appropriate for those working in operational roles.

Wildfire Suppression

This course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and practical knowledge on how to effectively respond to a wildfire, apply appropriate fire control strategies and safe work practices to extinguish a wild fire, work as a safe and situationally-aware member of a crew to attack and extinguish a fire, participate in mop-up and patrol operations, and prepare equipment for the next crew.

Vertical Rescue

This course is to provide participants with the knowledge and technical skills to undertake vertical rescue from height or depths in a range of emergency situations using advanced rope rescue techniques and procedures.

Underground Firefighting Cluster

The purpose of this course is to provide course participants with the necessary skills for controlling fires in underground metalliferous mines. Elements and performance criteria include assessing the situation and preparing for fire control operations; controlling the fire; and restoring and refurbishing fire equipment to operational condition.

Road Crash Rescue

This course is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills to allow them to respond to vehicle collisions as a member of an emergency response team, across a variety of industries.

Respond to Wildfire Cluster

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and practical knowledge on how to effectively respond to a wildfire, work as a safe and situationally-aware member of a crew to attack and extinguish a fire, participate in mop-up and patrol operations, and prepare equipment for the next crew.

Respond to Local Emergencies and Incidents Standalone

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond to a range of local emergencies and incidents in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. It includes implementing response plans, monitoring the situation, taking necessary precautionary measures and supporting formal relief.
